Abstract

Technological advances, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), pose new challenges in the workplace, including AI job replacement anxiety, the anxiety of jobs being replaced by AI. This study analyzes the effect of nature relatedness on AI job replacement anxiety, with conscientiousness as a moderating variable. Using quantitative methods with the Classical Process Model technique, this study involved 229 students from the Visual Communication Design (DKV) and English Education departments at various universities in Indonesia. The results show that nature relatedness has no significant effect on AI job replacement anxiety, either directly or moderated by conscientiousness (p-value > 0.05). This study indicates that connectedness to nature is not related to anxiety about AI, and conscientiousness does not moderate the relationship. This study highlights the importance of other more relevant factors, such as digital literacy, work experience with AI, and employment regulations. Improved technology adaptation skills and clear policies are needed to reduce anxiety due to job automation.
